CQUniversity – cyber security campaign & Digital Media student learning tool
Overview
Defend Against Cyber Threats in a Retro Pixel World! A retro-style game designed to teach cyber security principles through interactive play. Initially inspired by a cyber awareness comic, this project became an integral part of CQUniversity’s campaign to educate students on potential online threats.

Goal & Outcomes
The objective was to create an engaging, interactive way to educate users about cyber threats. Accessible across campus, it served as a unique engagement piece that sparked conversations and encouraged further discussions on cyber security. The game successfully became a valuable learning resource for Digital Media students, reinforcing cyber awareness through gameplay.
My Role & Demonstrated Skills
I was responsible for developing the game’s functionality, art assets, design, and sound. Working closely with the original comic writers, I ensured consistency with the established storyline while integrating clever wordplay. This project allowed me to showcase:
- Game development and mechanics design
- Pixel art animation and aesthetic enhancement beyond NES limitations
- Chiptune composition and sound design
- Narrative integration and collaboration with writers
