Intersection Upgrade
The Weakleys Drive and John Renshaw Drive intersection at Beresfield, NSW underwent a major traffic infrastructure upgrade to enhance traffic flow and safety. The Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) led this project as part of the $391.6 million M1 Productivity Package, jointly funded by the Federal and NSW State governments.
Project Impact & Completion:
- Construction began in March 2018, with the new traffic lights operational by December 2018.
- The upgrade has significantly reduced congestion, improved travel times, and enhanced safety for motorists and cyclists.
- Thousands of drivers using the M1 Pacific Motorway daily now benefit from a smoother and more efficient intersection.
This critical infrastructure improvement has helped streamline one of NSW’s major transport corridors, supporting both local and long-distance commuters.
Real-Time Visualisation for Stakeholder Engagement
I served as the visualisation specialist for this project, leading multiple iterations of a real-time 3D model in Unity. The project involved refining the digital representation of the infrastructure upgrade to ensure accurate and effective communication.
Iterative Refinement
Through several refinement cycles, I developed an interactive, high-fidelity visualisation that helped stakeholders better understand the project’s impact.
Final Presentation & Engagement
The final version of the model was rendered into a video presentation, which was used for community and stakeholder engagement. This ensured clarity in conveying the improvements, helping decision-makers and the public visualize the benefits of the upgraded intersection.
