Fast-Paced Lane-Switching Action for Mobile

Project Client

Developed as an educational project for students at Art Intelligence.

Overview

Swappy Lane is a mobile game designed to demonstrate game development fundamentals to students. It focuses on a core “Verby Noun” game loop, showcasing how simple mechanics evolve into engaging experiences through economies, progression, and unlockable content.

Key Features

  • Core Gameplay Loop – A dynamic lane-switching mechanic with increasing challenge.
  • Player Progression – Unlockable content to enhance engagement and long-term play.
  • Economy Design – A structured reward system to demonstrate in-game economies.
  • Educational Insight – Developed as a teaching tool for game development students.

Goal & Outcomes

The primary goal was to illustrate the game development process, from mechanics to player engagement. The project highlighted how even small games require careful design when incorporating economies, unlocks, and engagement strategies.

It emphasised the “second mountain” of game development, marketing and distribution. Demonstrating that creating a game is only part of the journey, and reaching an audience requires a strategic approach. The outcome was a fully functional mobile game that served as a hands-on learning tool.
